The 2 day Summit conference will have 4 tracks of 1 hour sessions covering a range of Drupal topics for site building, development and code, design and theming, information architecture, administration, business and project management. Most sessions will be intermediate or advanced with some suitable for beginners. If you are new to Drupal, see the section below titled "Message for Drupal Beginners".

In addition to sessions with presenters, there will be BoFs (Birds of Feathers) informal meetups during the day and social events Friday and Saturday evenings.

The 2012 PNW Drupal Summit venue is on the University of Washington campus in Mary Gates Hall.

Registration fee is $50 and includes lunch for Saturday and Sunday and a ticket to the Garage social Saturday evening. When you pay for registration, you will be given a website account automatically.

Hotel rooms are available for $125 + tax at Hotel Deca near UW campus.

PNW Drupal Summit websites are hosted by GetPantheon.com. (Each year of the Summit has a sub-domain.) The first site release for 2012 was focused on getting users registered and to give directions for hotel reservations. Subsequent site releases will focus on session submissions and session voting.

The Summit expenses are covered by attendee fees and by sponsors. Surplus money will be passed to the organizers of the 2013 Summit in Vancouver, BC. Funds are processed by the Drupal Associaton.

Summit History

The PNW Drupal Summit is an annual event organized by Drupal professionals for professionals residing in British Columbia, Washington State, Oregon, Idaho and Western Montana.

The Summit rotates annually between Seattle WA, Vanouver BC, and Portland OR. The Summit started in Seattle (2009) with 150 attendess and then went to Vancouver (2010) and then Portland (2011). This is the fourth annual event being held in Seattle (2012), where it began. The 2013 Summit will be in Vancouver BC, unless organizers decide to put their energy into Drupalcon in Portland.

The intent of rotating the event was to reduce the annual burden placed on the Drupal user groups in each location. Up until 2009, each of the 3 cities were duplicating efforts every year to organize Drupal Camps. Each city contnues to organize events such as training for beginners and specialized events for business and designers, etc.

Message for Drupal Beginners

Because the Summit is organized for people with Drupal experience, beginners should prepare by taking some beginner courses before attending the Summit. Sessions will not be designed specifically for beginners but many will be useful to beginners.
